Graphic Design is up there with the importance of a marketing plan. People will get a first impression of your business by its logo for example, the same way we all sometimes tend to judge each other on our own personal appearance. These split second decisions have a positive or negative connotation. We want people to have a VERY POSITIVE response to our business don’t we? So here are by reasons why graphic design is so important.
You could have the same brand values as one of your competitors or very different values but what is going to make you stand out? It might be customer service, it might be location of your offices, but above all it will be your brand identity that sets you apart significantly. To give you an example of this – does anyone remember when Orange (mobile network) was launched in the UK? At the time it was an unusual name for a telecommunications firm. The simple colour identity set it apart from its competitors in order to get recognised.
2) Online Presence
With the ever-increasing online interaction with people through email, twitter, linkedin, our websites - the first thing your potential clients will see is your logo or visual brand identity. You will not be there in person to show them how great you are. For this reason you, your branding is essential to make a good first impression online.
3) More Sales
A well designed website, brochure or leaflet with your product or services will put trust into your clients and potential clients. For example, if you arrive at a website and you think it looks a bit shabby around the edges, are you going to buy a product from there? I wouldn’t because I would think that the products might not turn up or something (there's no inital trsut). If a website is not designed well, I automatically think that it is a small company and may not be able to handle my order. Don’t forget you can make yourself look like a big and professional company just by having a good graphically designed website for example.
4) Maintain Sales
Keeping brand consistency in your company is important. Say for instance you got your lovely logo designed and now it’s time to package your products. You want customers to see a little bit more of your brand when their package arrives. This might be something as simple as the wrapping tissue paper being the same colour as one of the colours in your logo. Think about how you are presenting yourself. Is it the wow factor that you would like to get when buying something? Well designed things stick in customer’s minds and they are more likely to tell their friend about it! Word of mouth is the best way to generate new customers in my opinion. GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT!
